On SoapboxI don't typically post photos such as this, either on Flickr or my website. Over the past 11 years on my many (~500+) long walks throughout the Portland metro region, I’ve tried to maintain an upbeat attitude about Portland. I even embarked on a Posting Positive Past & Present Portland Photos Phase :) a while back to show my continued support.Putting aside my positive perspective, I haven’t posted photos such as this one because I lack the subject matter though. During the last two years, I’ve seen a significant increase in the amount of trash and number of abandoned vehicles throughout the Portland metro region. I won’t go into detail explaining why this has happened. The subject has been well documented by the press. All that said, the situation with this pickup in Portland's NW District seems to be egregious to me. Based on what I saw, no one is living in the vehicle and it has been on the street for quite some time. Perhaps I’m incorrect? Regardless, it certainly seems to meet the definition in the City of Portland Code of an abandoned vehicle.https://www.portland.gov/transportation/parking/abandoned-autoFinally, before folks call me out, know that I’m trying to make a difference. This is me holding the sign (instructions for picking up sharps/needles). The first of more SOLVE cleanup efforts I plan to participate in. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/samadamspdx_hereforportland-pdx-activity-6814232891946622976-UHxsOff Soapbox
